On January 31, 2023, the time had finally come - after a lot of construction work and DIY track laying, our Tatra train flew in!
Many thanks at this point for the Chemnitz Nazifrei alliance, who used the elaborate and eye-catching transport politically to commemorate the racist terror attack in Hanau and to demand the closure of the many Nazi properties in Chemnitz. Thank you for your support and your important work in this city!
We now have a whole bunch of ideas and an equally big pile of work ahead of us, we have to discuss who can hang out in the driver's cab and when, and whether the handrails will be used for gymnastics or as a checkroom. One thing can already be revealed: there will soon be overnight accommodation in one of the carriages so that artists, performers and guests from far away can be accommodated!

Intervention area 2025 - We have won!
Dear friends, supporters and interested parties,
We have actually made it and are the winners of the tender for the Intervention Space 2025! In concrete terms, this means that Subbotnik is getting bigger and Chemnitz is getting a new open space!
A large open-air stage with multifunctional features is to be built on the square behind our site, a former sports field. Designed by an artist from Leipzig, this stage is not just an elevation, but a work of art in itself - many different surfaces, movable modules and a 360° viewable area. This creates a variety of possible uses for this area and there are no limits to your imagination. Whether theater, school choir, concert or parkour - it's your stage!
The rest of the property will also serve as open space and will therefore be largely preserved - a large piece of green space between student residences and not far from the city center. A free space for you and your ideas! Whether it's urban gardening, a skate ramp or an outdoor café - there are no limits to your ideas.

At Subbotnik, all volunteers and full-time staff organize daily operations and make decisions together on an equal footing. To this end, we meet every week for an open plenary session. Anyone who is already active or wants to become active is invited to attend. Almost everything that concerns Subbotnik as a whole is discussed here: events, new projects and construction and structural issues relating to the house and grounds. Of course, there are also smaller subgroups with their own plenums/meetings: for example, the cafeteria collective, the Küfa cooking crew(s), the brunch crew and various construction working groups
There are many ways to participate in the Subbotnik: In the organization of our own events, the realization of artistic, craft or content-related projects, in the support in our cafeteria or pub, the culinary supply of bands, our "Volxküche" on Wednesdays or the preparation of the brunch once a month, in construction projects or cleaning campaigns and much more.
